Sunset Inn Winter Visit Checklist

Comb the beach and find a famous Sunset Beach sand dollar while keeping an eye out for dolphins.

Conquer the walk to Bird Island and leave a message in one of the journals at the Kindred Spirit mailbox.

Pick up a new hobby and become a birder in search of rare and interesting species that can be found on Sunset Beach, like the winter Merlin Falcon!

Visit the Ingram Planetarium in Sunset Beach and see one of the many shows like the Oasis of Space , Seven Wonders or a laser show featuring music from Pink Floyd and Led Zepplin.

Visit the Coastal Museum at Ocean Isle Beach.

Head to Southport, NC where many movies have been filmed.  Southport is a beautiful and historic town right on the Cape Fear River.  There are many wonderful restaurants, shops and postcard views!

Take the ferry to Bald Head Island while you are in Southport.

Visit the Silver Coast Winery or La Belle Amie Vineyard for a wine tasting, tours of the winery, a picnic or to search for a special gift or painting on display in the gift shops.

Discover Barefoot Landing in North Myrtle Beach, SC and explore the many boutiques, collectibles, home decor, art galleries and restaurants.  Don't forget to feed the Koi fish while strolling over one of the many bridges. 

Stop by Tanger Outlet in North Myrtle so you can get great bargains and brag to your friends who paid full price elsewhere!

Check out a concert at The House Of Blues or pop in for one of their murder mystery nights and solve the case!

Don't forget about seeing a show at The Alabama Theatre, The Dixie Stampede or The Carolina Opry.

Take in a movie at Coastal Cinemas in Shallotte and try out the Purple Onion for lunch.

Maureen Ryan Griffin Writing Retreat

Join us here at the Inn on November  12-13 for a weekend full of writing activities that will renew your creativity. This retreat is for everyone, whether you are a practicing writer, closet writer, or have yet to pick up the pen writer! Your teacher and author Maureen Ryan Griffin uses techniques and prompts that will spur your imagination, and can be used to create non-fiction, fiction, and or poetry, the choice is yours.
